Canadian Geese on the Rio Grande

This photo shows Canadian Geese wintering on the Rio Grande in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This scene was captured in the Rio Grande Nature Center which offers marsh conditions that attract many migrating species of geese and ducks during the winter months. The Bosque del Apache in San Antonio, New Mexico deservedly attracts attention for its display of thousands of migrating Sandhill Cranes in early winter. However, The Rio Grande Nature Center also provides a great vantage point for observing many of the same wintering birds, with the Sandia Mountains as a pleasant backdrop.
