Old New Mexico Pick-Up Truck

This photo shows and iconic old New Mexico pick-up truck that I discovered while exploring the Jemez Mountains near Santa Fe. This old pick-up truck with its endearing, weathered lines is a perfect symbol of the New Mexico spirit. It was located on a side street in one of the small towns that dot the Jemez Mountains. The Jemez Mountains are one of New Mexico’s most underrated attractions, hosting a quiet beauty rich in local culture and history. Located between Santa and Albuquerque, it contains quiet towns rich with small charms like this wise old pick-up truck. I don’t know if this pick-up truck is still there. It was located in a battered old garage and could well have been a victim of modernization since I captured this photo four years ago. This is one of my favorite images from the years I spent in New Mexico. I shot this image with a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H7, and converted the original color photo to black & white using Nik Silver EFX Pro Photoshop plug-in. Photo by Donald Peterson.
