Times Square Signage
This photo shows a sampling of colorful Times Square signage adorning 42nd Street storefronts. The eateries this signage adorns are, like most things in Times Square, a bit”over-the-top.” For example, Crumbs Bakery specializes in giant cupcakes loaded with gobs of buttercream and chunks of sweet somethings. Whereas a normal cupcake may average about 350 calories, a Crumbs cupcake can top out easily at 750 calories. They are riding the cupcake craze that seems to be the food fad of the moment. Anyhow, you don’t dine in the heart of Times Square if you are on a diet. If you want to avoid the artery clogging stuff when visiting Times Square, talk a short walk over to Ninth Avenue. They have a great selection of modestly priced family-owned ethnic restaurants from just about every culture. They run from about 43rd Street to 59th along 9th Avenue. That’s where the locals eat.
