Wellness Web Design
Wellness web design serves an important and growing market, with over 46% of women going online for wellness information and related products. Wellness involves lifestyle choices that promote and maintain good health and well-being. It can cover a variety of health essentials such as exercise, weight control, nutrition and beauty. Web design can be adapted to serve the growing online market for wellness products.
I created this web design for a series of Japanese beauty and wellness products introduced to the American market. My challenge was to create a logo, branding and web design that would marry the distinguished Japanese roots of the products with the American wellness and beauty aesthetic.
In creating this web design, I sought to connect with the desirable emotions associated with wellness. A sense of calm and peacefulness. A connection with nature at its finest. I reduced the overall color palette to two basic colors to emphasize a sense of simplicity and refinement. The red touches seen in the logo suggests the Japanese roots of the product line, and is well balanced with the soft cyan color that dominates this web design.
Since this line of cosmetics is marketed primarily to women, the choice of models emphasizes a desirable state of good health promised by the product line. The web site provides a wealth of information on the health benefits of this product line, and the research behind it. To encourage reading, I kept the content pages simple, uncluttered and legible. The text has good contrast and generous line-spacing and white space, making it eye-friendly.
This style of web design can be effective in promoting health and beauty products, spas, and any product or service that promotes good health.
